ParaType releases its first open font

ParaType, which is a well-know Russian type foundry, has just released PT Sans — its first font family under an open license, which is, basically, OFL 1.0 translated into Russian.

PT Sans is a sans serif font based on typefaces from 2nd half of 20th century and has elements of modern humanist fonts.

The font family contains eight faces: four base faces, two faces with wider proportions for small font size type setting and two faces for economic type setting.

The glyphs coverage includes Latin, Cyrillic and alphabets of various nations living in Russian Federation.

The next year ParaType is planning to continue work on PT Sans and also release PT Serif as its complement (under same terms).
